MT deserves credit for this solo and the brilliant solos he did in the studio - “Winter” being just one example. But unfortunately he had flaw that many musicians suffer from. Live, especially on the fast numbers he repeatedly played OVER the band, not IN the band. A musician needs to watch, listen and respond to the rest of the group, and when you watch Keith and Ronnie even today you see great examples of this. This slow track works because you can tell Mick T actually listening, responding and thinking about each note. PS - I’ve just seen the Stones for the 12th time.

Proof positive that the Mick Taylor years were the best for the Stones and that he was superior over anything Ronnie could do. Don't get me wrong, we all love Ronnie Wood but hey....

Mick brought the whole band up to a higher level. The Stones were at their apex in the Mick Taylor years, largely because of him. They were never the same after he left. Although I just them May 23, 2024, and Keith, Mick and Ronnie still got it!
